The other two shows will be at Glasgow’s Hampden Park and Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium, which coincidently will be his first show in Cardiff in the last thirty years.

Tickets for each of the stadium shows will go on sale March 8th, tickets for Hyde Park went on sale on March 5th, and the Isle of Wight tickets are already available with all shows scheduled to take place over the month of June. In 2009 Sir Paul only played one show in the UK at the London O2 arena so ticket sale anticipation is high for his upcoming performances.

The line of UK shows will kick off as he appears as the headliner for the Isle of Wight festival on Sunday June 13th before heading to Scotland, Wales, and then Finally London on June 27th.

Sir Paul stated that his appearance in Cardiff will be a blast for everyone, thanking them for waiting so long for the chance to see him live again. He also added that the last time he was in Cardiff was with Wings, so there is a lot of catching up to do and that his band and he will rock the stage at the Millennium Stadium.

Alex Luff, the stadium venue sales manager for Millennium, stated that the show will be a large coup and help uphold its reputation as a must play venue.

“The Phantom of the Opera” is moving to Coney Island via the Adelphi Theatre in the West End. “Love Never Dies” takes up the Phantom’s story ten years after his disappearance from Paris at the end of the original show.

In development since 1997, “Love Never Dies” is set to open in London on March 9, 2010.

Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote the score, as he did for the Phantom; it remains to be seen whether he has matched his huge success with “Phantom”, which is still running in London after 24 years, and the longest-running show in the history of Broadway.

Canadian actor Ramin Karimloo, who also performed as the Phantom for two years in the West End, plays the title role. Sierra Boggess is Christine; she also played that role in the Las Vegas Spectacular premier of “The Phantom” in 2007, and starred in “The Little Mermaid” on Broadway.

“Love Never Dies” is directed by American Jack O’Brien and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell; both are currently doing their respective jobs on the set of “Hairspray” in the West End. Bob Crowley, winner of five Tony Awards, designed the sets and costumes; a challenging task of creating the Phantom’s eerie but beautiful setting with a roller coaster instead of a chandelier as a prop.

Anticipation and expectations are high, and a lot of talent has gone into this ambitious sequel. The creators and producers of the show are hoping that “Love Never Dies” will captivate audiences as “The Phantom” has, and the words of the title are really true.

Over 2009 box office receipts have increased up to 7.6% totalling up to £505m according to figures from the Society of London Theatre. Among the top earning plays were The Habit of Art and Hamlet, which stars Jude Law.

Nica Burns, the president of SOLT has credited the increase with the exceptional talent of the West End.

Burns also stated that the amount of quality productions that have become available across London explain how the figures can be so high even when the year overall was difficult in terms of the economy.

2009 was the seventh year in a row that revenue and attendance records have been set with attendances passing the 14m mark and showing an increase of 5.5%.

Most of the attendees were reported at plays within London, which show an increase of 26% since 2008 while those who attended entertainment, opera, and dance productions increased by about 7%. However, although musicals decreased by 2% over the entire course of the year, more people attended in the final quarter of the year than the previous year.

Among those on the list for Best Actress and Best Actor are Jude Law, James Earl Jones, Rachel Weisz, and Imelda Staunton. Each of these has either been nominated or won an Oscar in the past. Another Oscar nominee, Keira Knightley, was nominated for Best Supporting Actress this year as well for her role in The Misanthrope.

Additionally, three more Olivier Award nominees- Juliet Stevenson, James McAvoy, and Sam West- have also been nominated in the past for a Bafta film award, which is also prestigious. Although there are usually a few Hollywood A listers on the Olivier nod list, very rarely are there so many within one year.

Favoured winners for Best Actor this year are Sam West for his role in Enron and Mark Rylance for his role in Jerusalem. Both of these plays were produced at the Royal Court Theatre, which leads the Olivier’s in terms of most nods by a production team with a total of 15. Following close behind are the Donmar Warehouse, which secured ten, and the National Theatre which secured nine.

Of particular note is the fact that her appearance in The Misanthrope was Keira Knightley’s first appearance on the West End stage, which has many wondering if she was nominated for her work in Hollywood or her actual performance.
