Melvin Benn of the Reading and Leeds Festivals has spoken out about the so-called “war” that has occurred between festival promoters and the band Guns N’ Roses.

As the festival came to a close on its final night, Guns N’ Roses lead singer Axl Rose spoke out against the organisers of the festival. He said “this war ain’t over”, after the band’s sound was cut. Benn reportedly cut the sound so that they would not be breaking the noise curfew that is currently in place.

Despite the comments that Axl Rose made, Benn has stated that he would he would “book them again”, but he was unsure if they would actually come back to play. He says that he thinks “the band is great” and does not wish to “make it personal”.

However, Benn praised The Libertines performances at both Leeds and Reading on Friday and Saturday respectively. He said that their performances could have gone poorly or chaotic, but that overall he was very pleased. He has stated that the band were “professionals” even though some thought that they would cause issues.  According to Benn, they were “fantastic” and they “made the effort”. He says that he is unsure on whether or not they will continue to perform as a band, but that they made a great effort to “put great shows on”.

As well, Benn made a point to praise Canadian indie-rockers Arcade Fire for their headline shows which he called “fantastic. He also commended pop-punk band Blink-182 for their excellent performances at the festival.

The concert will help to raise money for Help for Heroes which is a charity that helps out those who are serving with the British Armed Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Jenkins stated that she is proud to be part of a day that is designed to honour the sacrifices of the troops.  She continued to say that given she has been overseas to visit them they are always in her mind.

The line-up for the September even is pretty rich with additional performers The Saturdays, Jack Dee, Plan B, Rhod Gilbert, Pixie Lott, and Peter Kay slated to appear.  Michael McIntyre and Jason Manford will host the event.

The concert will be held at London’s Twickenham rugby station on Sept. 12^th.

Fans quickly retweeted the message across the internet making it the most used post in the scarcely used Twitter feed.  A spokesman for the rock group however stated that the tour, which is slated for autumn, will still be going on as scheduled.

At the moment, the actual owner of the Twitter profile is not clear, but it is likely that it was hacked by someone who simply guessed the password after Rose neglected to update the social media device or used a password reset attack.

Rose is the most recent in a long line of celebrities who has had their Twitter account hacked joining Ed Miliband, Lindsay Lohan, and Britney Spears in the list of duped celebs.

Jones was apparently maddened by the comment using his appearance on the Latitude stage to perform like he has never done before putting his heart into every note.

Although he was a last minute addition to the event, he kicked off the festival planned to play on a smaller stage but within three days it was revealed that he would in fact be on the main Obelisk arena stage.  Word of mouth around the music fest travelled quickly and the impromptu performance drew one of the largest crowds of the entire weekend.

In a bold step, Jones chose only to perform the gospel tracks from his new album but it seemed to work out just fine with his vocal matching each selection perfectly.

Even though most of the crowd did not recognize the set list, for the most part the crowd stayed steady throughout with little thinning with each song receiving enthusiastic praise of its own.

All in all, Jones proved that even though he took a risky move at the age of seventy, he is still able to captivate a modern audience.

Earlier in 2010 the cast took to the stage for seven US dates, after which Dante Di Loreto said they may possibly travel to the UK in the future because the cast would enjoy it, but the television show production always comes first.

Di Loreto explained that they had a great time during the live concerts and would love to do more, but time is the key problem preventing them from hitting the stage any time soon.

Glee has been a huge success across America, earning a Golden Globe and critical acclaim from many which is reflected in its ratings.

Within the UK, Glee has also steadily gained in popularity with many hits on the singles charts and a top selling album.

There are rumours that a movie version of the show is in the works, but cast member Matthew Morrison denied the rumours stating that they are not true.

Morrison said the amount of rumours circulating about the show remind him of high school, although he did confirm that there are two more seasons already under contract.

Although Facebook only one of the marketing campaigns they were involved in, Rage was pretty gracious over their win and re-paid fans by playing a free gig in Finsbury park for thousands of eager fans.

Not to ignore the reason that Rage was performing, the set began with a spoof of an animated Cowell introducing the band as they started to strum the beginning chords of “Testify.”  Although most band sets are paced to include up and down tempos, Rage gave it their all on this particular night choosing to keep every song rapid and fast causing the crowd to go virtually wild.

One disappointment may be the fact that even having been reunited for three years, Rage still has not played or released any new material but the show did hold a special surprise cover of “White Riot” by the Clash.

It was hard to miss the possibility of new material however from the crows as Rocha was all over the stage playing passionate music in between lecturing the audience on British music and Gaza.

Noteworthy was a break in the set in which Jon and Tracy Morter, the creators of the Facebook campaign, were brought onto the stage and handed a huge check that they were instructed to offer up to their favourite charity, which shows Rage is still willing to give back in more ways than one.

It happened near the end of her version of The Sound of Music song Do-Re-Mi when she asked 14,000 fans to sing alone and at the end of the song her voice started to wobble as she sang the finishing lines.

Now, at the age of 74 this moment offered the clarity that 15 years after a failed operation to save her vocal cords, it is obvious that even if she knows the notes, Andrews is no longer able to sing them.

Given that the tickets for the show were £61 for general admission and a stunning £106 for posh seats, it seems as if both Andrews and fans should toss in the towel, which should make it no surprise to hear that at intermission the information desk was stormed with audience members hoping for a refund.

The odd part is that Andrews is aware that she is no longer the Mary Poppins everyone loved, given that five minutes into the show she clearly stated she was not like she used to be.

The opening of the show at least was entertaining given that the stage boosted a large screen that showed clips of Andrews’ early life and plenty of snaps of her before fame and throughout her glory years.  Surrounding the shots were the powerful voice that she is known for, but once she stepped onto stage and opened her mouth the magical bubble was broken.

She was barely more than a minute into the amp and when her voice gateway completely and she had to abandon attempts to complete the number. It seems as if the audience had ignored earlier reports from her Birmingham concerts that the 80s sensation had lost her dulcet tones.

It seems that Whitney has a serious respiratory infection, which seems to be ongoing and has left her voice well below par, this is combined with a seemingly endless set of technical problems to give the crowd a less than satisfactory experience.

She also attempted to make her way through her signature song I Will Always Love You but eventually had to admit defeat stating to the crowd that” she don’t want to come, my soprano friend.”

It was pretty clear that their backing singers were carrying the through every number, but unfortunately the many parts it was obvious that they were unable to cover up her croaky voice. Many fans demanded a refund for the lack lustre show, the first since her battle with drug addiction and a divorce from troublesome Bobby Brown.
Unfortunately for the singer she is also due to perform two more concerts in London this week.

The move comes shortly after Live Nation announced that they will also start a concert promotions business in Germany, which is thought to be the second largest entertainment market in Europe.  The move came in the wake of reports that North American employees were being laid off, however.

The new Australian division will be led by co-vice presidents Roger Field and Luke Hede.  Field will work with the New Zealand and Australia efforts and Hede will run the Pacific Rim aspects.  Both of them will report to the CEO of Live Nation International, Alan Ridgeway.

Ridgeway released a statement in which he said that Live Nation has worked with some of the largest Aussie tours including The Rolling Stones, Nickelback, David Bowie, U2, and many more and feel that this is the time to expand their presence in the country and strengthen their global tours as the music market continues to grow.

Live Nation will be able to make use of their merger with Ticketmaster earlier in the year and work through their ticketing locations across the Pacific region and Australia.  Although the main office of the new division will be in Melbourne, Live Nation is also working on concert promotions in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Singapore which should help keep their business booming internationally.
